We got smart and hired a contractor for the kitchen. We knew enough that the kitchen remodel was out of our diy skills. And with a one year old I did not want a torn up kitchen for the entire summer. With a contractor we said good bye to the orange counterops, bisque appliances and cabinets (that could not be refinished)! We also knocked down a wall between the original kitchen and an eating area to create one larger kitchen. Our house is fairly large in square footage but the kitchen was tiny....you couldn't fit two people in it. With the wall knocked down the kitchen size seems to fit the house better.
